Technical Question: When drilling rig contractors should change the BOP control hose for drilling rigs?

Recently we receive an technical question about fireproof BOP control hoses maintenance from drilling contractor for land rigs and offshore when they are doing during routine inspections of blowout preventer hose lines

BOP control hoses are designed and manufactured as API 16D. Oilfield service contractors need to think about some technical questions like:

How often should test pressure of BOP hoses?

What is the pressure rating should be tested at?

When to change the BOP control lines out?

API 16D BOP fire safe control hoses are to used for hydraulic pressure for BOP Blowout Prevention system during drilling rigs operation. Pressure testing of BOP hoses AA armored should be done every time before they are operated. Rating working pressure is 35 MPa and 70 MPa.

As BOP hoses are important parts of BOP control system, it should be changed out every 3 years for good working condition. If the outside layer appearance of hose has been damaged, you should change BOP hoses immediately, considering its high pressure usage at safety.
